Tigar at a glance
Tigar was born in 1935 in the town of Pirot, in what was then the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. At first it made rubber goods and footwear; a car tyre factory was only added in 1959. After the Second World War the company was nationalised. Michelin became Tigar's majority owner in 2007 and bought the remaining shares in 2008. Today Tigar is one of Serbia's largest exporters.
Tigar is one of the Michelin group's budget brands. The tyres are made in Pirot, Serbia, where Michelin opened a new factory in 2014 with an investment of 215 million euros. Tigar is an affordable choice for drivers who prefer a European-made tyre and a major group's technology but do not need a top-tier tyre. It is a good fit for an everyday family car or town car.
The best-known summer tyres are the Tigar High Performance and Ultra High Performance, with the SUV Summer designed for SUVs. For winter, Tigar offers the Winter 1 and, for vans, the Cargo Speed Winter. For year-round use there is the Tigar All Season. For Estonian winters, bear in mind that Tigar's winter tyres are non-studded and do not replace a studded tyre on icy roads.
