Kleber at a glance
Kleber's story began in 1910, when the American tyre maker BF Goodrich set up a subsidiary in Colombes, near Paris. The first tyre was produced there in December 1911. In 1945 the company moved to Avenue Kléber in Paris and took the name Kléber-Colombes. So the brand is named after a street, not a founder. In 1951 Kleber launched one of the first tubeless tyres.
Michelin became Kleber's majority owner in 1981, and today Kleber is the Michelin group's mid-range brand. Its tyres are made in Michelin group factories. Kleber is popular in France, Spain, Portugal and the UK, and also supplies tyres for new cars. Kleber suits drivers who want big-group technology at a lower price than a premium brand. The brand also has a strong position in agricultural tyres.
Kleber's winter range is called Krisalp. The Krisalp HP3, a Central European winter tyre, suits regions with milder winters. The summer range is Dynaxer, with the Dynaxer HP4 and the newer Dynaxer HP5 as its best-known models. Kleber was also an early pioneer of all-season tyres with its Quadraxer range. The current model is the Quadraxer 3, launched in 2022. Nordic studded tyres are not a highlight of Kleber's core range.
