BFGoodrich at a glance
BFGoodrich dates back to 1870, when Benjamin Franklin Goodrich set up a rubber works in Akron, Ohio. Akron would later grow into the heart of the American tyre industry. BFGoodrich tyres were fitted to Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis when he flew solo across the Atlantic in 1927. In 1947 the company brought the first tubeless car tyre to the US market.
Today BFGoodrich belongs to France's Michelin, which bought the company's tyre business in 1990. The brand is run from Michelin's North American headquarters in Greenville, and its tyres are made in the group's factories. In Europe, BFGoodrich sits in the mid-range price bracket, below Michelin. Its car tyres work well for everyday driving, but the brand's real strength lies with off-roaders, pick-ups and overland vehicles. In Europe it is also a familiar name among rally drivers.
BFGoodrich's best-known tyre is the All-Terrain T/A KO2, whose successor, the KO3, arrived in 2024. For muddier terrain there is the Mud-Terrain T/A KM3. In Europe, BFGoodrich's car summer tyres include the Advantage range and the sportier g-Grip family. BFGoodrich winter tyres are Central European winter tyres, such as the g-Force Winter2. For year-round use there is the Advantage All-Season. There is also the Activan range for vans and SUVs.
