Debica at a glance
Construction of the Dębica tyre factory began in 1937 as part of a major Polish government industrial programme. The plant was originally meant to make tyres for the army. The first tyres rolled off the line in March 1939, just a few months before the outbreak of war. During the war the Germans shipped the machinery off to Germany. After the war production was restored, and the factory took its name from the town of Dębica.
In 1995 Goodyear acquired a strategic stake in the Dębica tyre plant and went on to invest more than 170 million dollars there. Today Dębica is one of Goodyear's largest factories in Europe, also producing Goodyear, Fulda and Sava tyres. The Debica brand occupies the group's cheapest price bracket. These tyres suit drivers who want an affordable tyre from a major manufacturer's factory.
Debica's winter range is Frigo. The Frigo 2 is for smaller cars and the Frigo HP2 for more powerful ones. These are Central European winter tyres, not Nordic studded tyres. Debica's best-known summer tyres are the Presto HP 2 and the sportier Presto UHP 2. For year-round driving, Debica offers the Navigator 3. For vans, Debica has the Frigo LT and Presto LT.
