Test rank = the ranking published by the test organiser (if the test included more tyres than are listed here, the rank is among all tyres in the full test). Score = the TyreRanker score from this test's measurements; in the rankings, TyreRanker orders tyres by its own score.

TyreRanker summary

In its 2025 test, Auto Bild compared 20 summer tyres in size 225/40 R18. Measured parameters from this test used by TyreRanker: 10.

In the tester's ranking, the best was the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, followed by Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and Bridgestone Potenza Sport. On measured results alone, the best tyre in this test was the Hankook Ventus Evo (94 points) – the tester also assesses driving feel and other subjective qualities.

Braking in the wet: best Hankook Ventus Evo (42.7 m), weakest Pirelli P Zero PZ4 (50.5 m) – a difference of 7.8 m, or 18%. Braking in the dry: best Bridgestone Potenza Sport (32.6 m), weakest Giti GitiSportS2 (35.4 m) – a difference of 2.8 m, or 9%. Straight-line aquaplaning: best Giti GitiSportS2 (81.4 km/h), weakest Yokohama Advan Sport V107 (78.8 km/h) – a difference of 2.6 km/h, or 3%.

The Hankook Ventus Evo won the most test categories (2: braking in the wet and ride comfort). The largest percentage gap was in “rolling resistance” (39%). The Firestone Firehawk Sport finished last in the tester's ranking.

The Nexen N Fera Sport SU2 was No. 14 in the tester's ranking, but only No. 20 in this test by TyreRanker score. The tester rated its handling and balance highly, which the measured results do not fully reflect. In the combined ranking of all tests, the N Fera Sport SU2 is No. 57 out of 62 tyres – it was weaker in other tests than in this one.

The Firestone Firehawk Sport was No. 20 in the tester's ranking, but No. 15 in this test by TyreRanker score. In the measurements it was at or near the top in “handling in the wet” and “rolling resistance”, where TyreRanker's methodology applies a high weighting. The tester's overall rating also gives substantial weight to subjective assessments (driving feel, noise, comfort) that the measured results do not show. In the combined ranking of all tests, the Firehawk Sport is No. 56 out of 62 tyres.

The Laufenn S Fit EQ Plus was No. 14 in the tester's ranking, but only No. 18 in this test by TyreRanker score. In the measurements it was weaker in “aquaplaning in bends”. The tester rated its handling and balance highly, which the measured results do not fully reflect. In the combined ranking of all tests, the S Fit EQ Plus is No. 39 out of 62 tyres.

The tester's winner, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5, is No. 10 out of 62 tyres in the combined ranking of all tests.
