Vredestein at a glance
The Vredestein story began in 1908, when Emile Schiff bought a gutta-percha factory in Delft. In 1909 the company moved to Loosduinen and took the name Vredestein, after a farm Schiff had bought there. Over the years, Vredestein has also made shoe heels, tennis balls and indoor footballs. Since the late 1990s, many Vredestein tyres have been styled by the Italian design studio Giugiaro.
Since 2009 Vredestein has belonged to the Indian tyre manufacturer Apollo Tyres, and the company is called Apollo Vredestein. Its European headquarters are in Amsterdam, with the main factory and development centre in Enschede. The group also makes tyres in Hungary. Vredestein is a mid-range brand that suits drivers who want a tyre from a European manufacturer and also care about how their tyres look.
The best-known winter tyres are the Vredestein Wintrac and Wintrac Pro, while the Nord-Trac is designed for Nordic winters. In all-season tyres, Vredestein is one of the best-known names in Europe thanks to its Quatrac series, which includes the Quatrac Pro+. Common summer tyres include the Ultrac and the sportier Ultrac Pro. Many of these models feature Giugiaro design, making them a good fit for drivers who also care about their car's looks.
