Sailun at a glance
The maker of Sailun tyres was founded in Qingdao in 2002. It began as a tyre development and testing centre and quickly grew into one of China's largest tyre manufacturers. Sailun's best-known technical innovation is EcoPoint3. Instead of mixing additives into solid rubber in a traditional Banbury mixer, it blends them while the rubber is still in the liquid phase. According to Sailun, this lowers rolling resistance and improves wear resistance.
Sailun Group is an independent Chinese listed company, headquartered in Qingdao. It has several factories in China, two in Vietnam and one in Cambodia. The Southeast Asian factories help supply the European and American markets. Sailun sits in the mid-range price bracket, towards the upper end among Chinese manufacturers. The brand suits drivers who want a more affordable alternative to premium tyres and are happy to try a less familiar name.
For Nordic winters, Sailun offers the studdable Ice Blazer WST3 and the Ice Blazer Arctic EVO non-studded tyre. For Central European winters there is the Ice Blazer Alpine EVO 1 and the newer Ice Blazer Alpine EVO 2. The most common summer tyres are the Atrezzo Elite 2 and the sportier Atrezzo ZSR 2. For year-round use there is the Atrezzo 4Seasons Pro, which carries the snowflake symbol. For vans and SUVs, Sailun has its separate Commercio and Terramax series.
