Nordman at a glance
Nokian Tyres launched Nordman tyres in 2004 as a more affordable alternative to its Hakkapeliitta tyres. For a long time, Nordman models were based on earlier Nokian tread patterns. After the Russian business was sold in 2023, Tatneft obtained a licence to make Nordman tyres for the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union. In the same year, Nokian Tyres relaunched Nordman as a standalone brand in the Nordic countries and North America.
Nordman is owned by Finland's Nokian Tyres and is the group's mid-range brand. The tyres are aimed at drivers who want a winter tyre made for Nordic conditions but do not need a top-of-the-range product. In the past, much of Nordman's output was made at the Vsevolozhsk factory in Russia. Since the relaunch, the brand has been sold in the Nordic countries and North America through Nokian Tyres' dealers. The range is also being extended to summer and all-season tyres.
The first models of the new Nordman are the Nordman North 9 studded tyre and, for SUVs, the Nordman North 9 SUV. Among earlier Nordman winter tyres, the Nordman 8 studded tyre and the Nordman RS2 non-studded tyre are well known in Estonia. Popular Nordman summer tyres have included the Nordman SZ2 and Nordman S2 SUV. The brand's direction is clear: Nordic winters, a simple choice and Nokian Tyres' expertise at a lower price.
