Milever at a glance
Behind Milever tyres is Wanli Tire, based in Guangzhou. The company started out in 1988 as South China Tire & Rubber and initially made tyres under licence from America's Firestone. Milever is one of Wanli's export brands; the trademark application was filed in the USA in 2006. The same company's better-known export brand in Europe is Sunny. Wanli's parent company is Guangzhou Vanlead Group, a Guangzhou state-owned enterprise.
Milever is a budget brand. The tyres are made in China, with car tyres coming mainly from Wanli's Conghua factory near Guangzhou. In Europe, Milever tyres are sold through distributors, and the EU tyre label database lists Wanli Tire as the manufacturer. These tyres suit drivers for whom a low price comes first and who mainly drive in town or at a relaxed pace. The range includes summer, winter and van tyres, as well as SUV tyres.
Among Milever's summer tyres, the ML150 car tyre is common in Europe. The winter range includes, for example, the MW147 for vans, which carries the snowflake symbol. For SUVs the brand offers the Earthrover series, including the Earthrover H/T highway tyre and the Earthrover M/T2 mud tyre. Nordic drivers choosing Milever winter tyres should check whether a model is designed for Central European winters or for icy roads, as the range shows no clear Nordic non-studded or studded tyre.
