Maxxis at a glance
Maxxis's parent company, Cheng Shin Rubber, was founded in 1967 in the town of Yuanlin, Taiwan. Founder Luo Jye began by making bicycle tyres, and only later did the company expand into tyres for motor vehicles. Cheng Shin started using the Maxxis name in the 1990s. The brand is still hugely popular with mountain bikers, and Maxxis tyres are a common choice in competition.
Cheng Shin is one of the world's larger tyre manufacturers, and its shares are listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. The group also sells tyres under the CST name. Maxxis tyres are made in Taiwan, China, Thailand and Vietnam. In price terms, Maxxis is a mid-range brand. It suits drivers who want a more affordable tyre, as well as SUV and ATV owners, for whom Maxxis offers a wide choice.
Maxxis car winter tyres belong to the Premitra range. For the Nordic countries there is the Premitra Ice Nord NS5, while its Central European winter tyre is the Premitra Snow WP6. The best-known summer tyres are the Premitra HP5 and the sporty Victra Sport 5. Anyone looking for an all-season tyre will find the Premitra All Season AP3. SUV owners can choose from Maxxis's wide range of off-road tyres, such as the Bravo and Razr ranges.
