Falken at a glance
Falken was created in Japan in 1983. The brand was originally launched by Ohtsu Tire & Rubber, which wanted a label with a sporty name. Ohtsu later merged with Sumitomo Rubber Industries, and Falken remained the group's second core brand. Falken has raced in the Nürburgring 24 Hours for years and is instantly recognisable trackside thanks to its blue-green livery.
Today Falken belongs to Sumitomo Rubber Industries, headquartered in Kobe. The same group also owns the Sumitomo tyre brand and, since 2025, Dunlop in Europe. Falken tyres sold in Europe are made in Turkey and in Asian factories, among other places. Falken sits in the mid-range price bracket and suits drivers who want a tyre from a Japanese manufacturer at a lower price than the premium brands.
Falken's core winter range in Europe is Eurowinter, such as the Eurowinter HS01. These are Central European winter tyres. Falken's summer tyres include the sporty Azenis FK520 and the more economical Ziex ZE310 Ecorun. For year-round driving, Falken offers the Euroall Season AS210. For off-roaders there is the Wildpeak range, such as the Wildpeak A/T AT3WA. Falken also has its own ranges for vans.
