Central European winter tyres: full ranking

Atlas at a glance

Atlas tyres don't come from a traditional tyre factory but from a wholesaler. The brand belongs to the Belgian company Deldo Autobanden, founded in 1973 and based in Brasschaat, near Antwerp. Deldo imports and wholesales tyres. Atlas is one of Deldo's seven private brands and arrived on the market in 2013. Its stablemates include Imperial, Minerva and Fortuna.

Deldo designs the product range but does not publicly name the factories it uses. Some retailers link Atlas to the Chinese manufacturer Sailun, whose tyres Deldo has previously sold in Europe on an exclusive basis, but there is no official confirmation of this. The European Atlas should not be confused with the brand of the same name owned by China's Linglong. Atlas belongs to the budget price bracket and is well suited to relaxed town and motorway driving.

The Atlas summer range includes the Green HP for everyday cars, plus the Sport Green 2 and Sport Green SUV 2 for larger wheels. Atlas winter tyres go by the name Polarbear: the Polarbear HP, Polarbear UHP 3 and, for SUVs, the Polarbear SUV 2. These are Central European winter tyres, not Nordic studded tyres. For year-round driving there is the Green3 4S, and for vans the Green Van 4 S.
